Key Responsibilities of the Financial Director:

  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee and manage the financial operations of the NYS 853 Program.
    • Ensure precise and timely financial reporting in accordance with NYS 853 regulations.
    • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to uphold fiscal responsibility.
  • Budget Development:
    • Collaborate with program managers to create and monitor annual budgets.
    • Provide insights on budgetary issues and strive for enhanced financial efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay informed about NYS 853 Program regulations and ensure the organization’s financial practices comply with these standards.
    • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and address any findings.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Generate financial reports for management and funding agencies.
    • Analyze financial data and present findings to support decision-making processes.
  • Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
    • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance staff knowledge of financial procedures and compliance.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or relevant certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Controller or in a similar role, ideally within a NYS 853 Program or comparable disability service organization.
  • Thorough understanding of NYS 853 Program regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
