Accessioning Specialist

Key Responsibilities:- Receive and properly identify samples and sites where tests are performed.
- Sort samples according to protocol.
- Perform initial data entry in LIS.
- Prepare samples for send-outs to reference laboratories.
- Record discrepancies and communicate these errors to Supervisor and Client Services.
- Perform QA, and specimen container check.
- Perform initial data entry using a computer to enter patient and client data following standard protocol.
- Perform scanning and imaging for billing.
- Participate in improving department efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
- Resolve routine and complex questions and problems.
- Ensure all company safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
- Provide Accessioning coverage at the Winchester Hospital Pathology lab.
