Overview:


The Process Improvement Specialist will play a crucial role in establishing and executing a comprehensive system across the facility aimed at fostering a culture that enhances key performance metrics such as manufacturing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), product excellence, waste minimization, energy efficiency, safety standards, and operational expenditures.

This role will leverage both Lean and Six Sigma principles, methodologies, and tools to facilitate knowledge transfer within the facility, cultivating individual champions and teams essential for supporting ongoing improvement initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.


Key Responsibilities:
Lead complex projects as the primary coordinator. Define and oversee project scope and objectives, including the identification and proposal of innovative solutions. Develop, maintain, and track project timelines and deliverables. Communicate project status to key stakeholders and adjust schedules to meet deliverable deadlines.

Proactively identify and prioritize opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness through the application of lean principles.


Formulate continuous improvement strategies for the facility, encompassing specific goals, objectives, timelines, action plans, and strategies for engaging key leaders (both hourly and salaried).


Educate and guide team members on the principles, methods, and applications of the continuous improvement process to ensure that these efforts are integrated into the change management framework.

Coordinate and oversee continuous improvement initiatives to ensure optimal resource utilization and minimize redundancies.


Collaborate with department managers, supervisors, team leads, and hourly staff on improvement opportunities within the facility and develop justifications to support potential cost savings.

Conduct time and motion analyses to establish and validate production standards and associated costs.

Utilize value stream mapping and process charting to identify opportunities for product flow enhancement and initiate improvement activities to streamline operations.

Partner with the training department to develop and audit standardized work procedures and work instructions.

Encourage and support the formation of continuous improvement teams.


Engage in training and development programs covering all aspects of environmental, health, and safety issues, particularly those related to the proper handling of hazardous materials and waste.


Must be capable of following written and verbal instructions, work procedures, standard operating practices, and directives with or without direct supervision.

Perform additional tasks as assigned by management, including 5S cleaning initiatives.

Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.

Undertake assigned projects as directed by the Plant or Department Manager.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Skills Required:

Required:
Ability to identify process efficiency enhancements and drive implementation across various functions.

Strategic mindset with a strong capability to manage change, ambiguity, complexity, and a focus on results.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effectively conveying complex topics in a clear manner to diverse audiences.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)

Preferred:
A four-year degree is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent Lean certification.

Experience in project management.

Background in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Experience leading site-level continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, 5S, and DMAIC methodologies.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, push, and pull as necessary.

Exposure to varying environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid).

Occasional lifting of weights ranging from grams up to fifty pounds.

Equipment Used:
General office equipment, personal computer, and various software applications.

Personal protective equipment as required.
