Position Overview

The Surgical Instrument Processing Specialist is accountable for the meticulous processing, sterilization, and documentation associated with the sterility of medical supplies, instruments, and equipment utilized across the healthcare facility, adhering to the AORN Standards of Practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize surgical instrument sets and trays, utilizing count sheets to ensure accuracy.
  • Verify the proper functionality and integrity of all instruments.
  • Label instruments appropriately and return them to designated storage locations.
  • Execute instrumentation tasks efficiently, directly impacting patient safety and departmental effectiveness.
  • Maintain familiarity with AAMI, Joint Commission, and APIC standards concerning infection control.
  • Prior experience in instrument sterilization and knowledge of sterile techniques is preferred.
Work Schedule

This role operates on a full-time basis during evening hours.
