The Role

The Commercial and Industrial Relationship Manager is a critical role that plays a key part in the growth and development of our commercial lending business. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the Greater New York and New Jersey markets. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial credit and risk management, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Identify new SMB relationships for working capital lending and structure commercial credit transactions.
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated credit and portfolio information.
  • Analyze credit and risk impacts of new business proposals, transactions, and financial trends to determine actual and/or potential effects on the business entity.
  • Drive profitability by ensuring the credit and financial impact of all business decisions is independently evaluated and recommendations made to the business to mitigate any financial risks.
  • Monitor credit quality within the existing portfolio and take appropriate action.
  • Participate in joint calls with business partners to develop customer relationships and support specific product sales across business lines.
Qualifications
  • Formal credit training is required.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a credit-related field, and at least ten plus years of increasingly diverse or complex applications in finance.
  • MBA and/or significant experience in a consumer and commercial finance environment are strongly preferred.
  • Minimum five years with direct experience with C&I lending (loan sizes between $1 million to $10 million).
  • Demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge in both core and specialty industry lending products and services.
  • Capital Call Lending and Venture-backed lending are a plus.
  • Established client network and robust network of referral sources.
  • Ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the most senior level in the organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Established credit, industrial, and risk acumen.
  • Understand and interpret complex business and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to make robust/tough decisions, which may be contrary to the business's wishes.

Piermont Bank offers a competitive salary range of $130,000 to $150,000 per year, as well as a bonus and/or incentives as part of the compensation package. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and other benefits.
