Location: Hybrid (Tuesday-Saturday, 9 AM - 5 PM; Saturdays are remote)
Salary: $55,000 (No bonuses, full benefits)

Position Overview:

We are in search of a meticulous and analytical Fraud Specialist to enhance our operations. This entry-level position is tailored for individuals with a background in banking or financial services, especially those with expertise in mortgage processing or loan underwriting. As a Fraud Specialist, your duties will include evaluating a substantial volume of financial applications on a daily basis, scrutinizing cash flow and customer documentation, and underwriting leases and lease-to-own contracts. Your main objective will be to pinpoint and reduce potential fraud risks.

While previous experience in fraud prevention or investigation is advantageous, it is not a mandatory requirement. We seek candidates with a solid grounding in mortgage or loan underwriting, as these competencies are readily applicable to fraud detection.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Application Review: Evaluate a significant number of financial applications daily to uncover potential fraud risks.
  • Document Analysis: Examine cash flow, customer documentation, and other financial data to identify inconsistencies or indications of fraud.
  • Underwriting: Perform underwriting for leases and lease-to-own contracts, ensuring adherence to company standards and fraud prevention protocols.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Risk and Compliance teams to ensure comprehensive investigations and accurate conclusions.
  • Reporting: Keep meticulous records of all investigations and provide regular updates to management regarding potential fraud cases.


Qualifications:

Must-Have:
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in the banking or financial services sector.
    • Specific experience in mortgage processing or loan underwriting is crucial.
  • Education: Minimum of an Associate's Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in basic Excel and familiarity with financial software tools.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.


Nice to Have:
  • Fraud Prevention: Experience in fraud prevention or investigation is a plus, though not required.
  • Adaptability: Ability to swiftly adapt underwriting skills to the fraud detection process.


Interview Process:
  • First Round: 30-minute virtual screening with the Hiring Manager.
  • Final Round: On-site interview with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and other key team members.
