Job Title: Consulting Engineer- Nuclear Facilities

At Jensen Hughes, we are seeking a talented Consulting Engineer to join our team of nuclear consultants. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting regulatory compliance and risk assessment needs within the nuclear industry.

Job Overview

As a Consulting Engineer with Jensen Hughes, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including developing and maintaining Probabilistic Risk Analysis (PRA) models, conducting human reliability analyses, and performing accident analysis using specialized modeling codes. You will also be responsible for creating and updating Level II PRA models, generating calculations to support various PRA applications, and assisting utilities in navigating and complying with risk-informed regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain PRA models for internal and external hazards, with a focus on optimizing models for risk reduction and performance times.
  • Conduct human reliability analyses and evaluate dependencies within complex systems.
  • Perform accident analysis using specialized modeling codes such as MAAP.
  • Create and update Level II PRA models.
  • Generate calculations to support various PRA applications, including Mitigating Systems Performance Index (MSPI), Maintenance Rule, Risk-Informed Completion Time (RICT), Surveillance Frequency Control Program (SFCP), and 50.69 categorization.
  • Assist utilities in navigating and complying with risk-informed regulatory requirements, including Regulatory Guides 1.200 and 1.174.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in PRA internal events, fire PRA, external hazards, risk-informed applications (e.g., RICT, 50.69), online risk tools, or related engineering-based projects.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, given the collaborative nature of our work and the need to effectively convey technical information to diverse stakeholders.
  • US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in nuclear power plant engineering, nuclear plant systems, licensing, operations, advanced nuclear technologies, or similar technical areas.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently.
