About This Role

The Administrative & Legal Assistant will work independently and as part of a team to support various administrative and legal support functions in our office. While law firm experience is helpful, it's not required to make significant contributions to the work of our attorneys. If you have good administrative or secretarial skills, a desire to work in a professional office environment, and an interest in the law, this is the perfect position for you.

Burns White has offices in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware, and Florida. Essential Functions
  • Prepare a variety of legal and non-legal administrative documents
  • Draft correspondence including letters to clients and custody documents
  • Deliver and pick up documents to/from the Courthouse
  • Field calls and questions from new, potential, and visiting clients
  • Schedule meetings, court appearances, and other appointments
  • Input information into spreadsheets, databases, and other systems
  • Set up new files, maintain files, and track deadlines
Candidate Profile
  • Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) required; college degree, some college, or relevant training preferred
  • Experience: Experience in a professional/office work environment required; law firm or other professional services experience a plus; knowledge of or experience with accounting functions helpful
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong typing and technical skills including experience with MS Office applications; aptitude to learn new software programs; strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy; ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize workload; professional presence and communication skills to interact with clients; willingness to learn, grow, take initiative, and ask questions
