OVERVIEW

As a Creative Retail Associate, your primary role is to provide an exceptional customer experience by fostering creativity among our patrons and ensuring JOANN is their go-to destination. All associates contribute to sales through comprehensive product knowledge, innovative displays, and precise transaction handling. You will enhance the overall atmosphere of the store through positive engagement with customers and fellow associates, creating a memorable in-store experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT

  • Welcome every customer warmly and utilize the F.A.S.T. service model to fulfill their needs.
  • Ask insightful questions to understand customers' project requirements and guide them to the appropriate products.
  • Engage in friendly discussions about customers' projects while assisting them at the cutting counter, cash register, and on the sales floor.

TRANSACTIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Efficiently process customer transactions at the cutting counter and cash register with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Handle merchandise deliveries, including lifting boxes, organizing items on shelves, and ensuring proper stock levels.
  • Maintain high productivity while stocking shelves according to company standards and ensuring attention to detail.
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization throughout the sales floor by managing returns and promptly addressing spills or messes.

SALES INITIATIVES

  • Encourage customers to participate in store events such as educational workshops and custom framing services.
  • Drive sales through informed product recommendations, creative merchandising, and building strong customer relationships.
  • Adhere to company policies to minimize loss and ensure accurate inventory management.

TEAM COLLABORATION

  • Support fellow associates in achieving team goals and exceeding expectations set by management.
  • Collaborate with management and team members on various projects in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Assist in training new associates on customer service, register operations, and product handling.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
  • Regularly walk throughout the store during working hours.
  • Read and comprehend written instructions and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members consistently.
  • Utilize computer systems for data entry and communication.
  • Handle merchandise using appropriate equipment for transport.
  • Lift and arrange items on shelves, with the ability to lift up to 49 pounds individually.
  • Perform tasks that require bending, reaching, and climbing.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

This part-time position requires flexible availability to meet store needs. Part-time associates typically work less than an average of 28 hours per week, with no guaranteed hours. Open availability includes the ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education: No specific educational background required.

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience: No prior experience necessary.

Preferred Experience: 1-3 years in a customer-focused environment.
