Position Overview:

The Sensory Neurobiology and Pain Research Lab within the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow. Our research focuses on the intricate molecular mechanisms and neural pathways associated with sensory neuroplasticity and visceral pain, particularly highlighting the interactions between glial cells and neurons, as well as immune-neuron dynamics. We investigate the factors contributing to sensory neuron communication and the cross-sensitization between visceral and somatic organs. Our lab employs cutting-edge methodologies, including neuronal tracing, cell culture, live cell imaging, and various biochemical and behavioral techniques, utilizing specialized transgenic mouse models. Ideal candidates should hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree and demonstrate a strong curiosity and passion for advancing basic scientific research.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct independent research projects Prepare manuscripts for publication Participate in journal clubs and data discussions Present research findings and provide analytical insights Support additional projects and grant writing efforts Mentor junior researchers within the lab Ensure efficient lab operations and organization Minimum Qualifications:
