Mental Health Assistant Job Description

Elwyn is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant to join our team. As a Mental Health Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with mental and emotional issues under the supervision of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients in daily activities, monitoring progress and observing personal and social behaviors.
  • Conduct recreational activities as part of cooperative treatment plans.
  • Supervise and facilitate counseling interventions for psychiatric patients.
  • Lead community therapeutic meetings to enhance rehabilitation management and coping skills.
  • Provide clear lines of responsibility and accountability within the Behavioral Health Technician department.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma and/or GED required.
  • MHRT-1/CRMA preferred.
  • One year of full-time experience in providing direct care services to mentally ill consumers preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities.
