Maintenance and Transportation Specialist

The Maintenance and Transportation Specialist is responsible for maintaining the Elders Program facilities and transporting clients and families to Elders activities and functions.
The incumbent drives and maintains organization vehicles to assist clients/staff with meeting transportation needs and performs custodial and minor maintenance duties in and around the program facility, providing a clean, orderly, and safe environment for employees, clients, families, and visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
~ Provide safe, dependable, and flexible driving transportation services for clients and families to and from program activities and functions.
~ Assist clients and families in/out of buses, vans, and other vehicles in a careful, respectful, and polite fashion.
~ Assist in implementing transportation services for client volunteers and parents as needed.
~ Keep vehicles clean and complete regular operator maintenance, schedules regular and special vehicle maintenance and repair.
~ Set up, modify, redistribute, and transport office furniture, training props, and supplies to support classes, events, and meetings.
~ Remove trash (inside and out), vacuum, and clean carpeting and furniture, mop floors, and wash windows in accordance with established procedures and time schedules.
~ Clean and disinfect restrooms, lobby, offices, conference rooms, break rooms, kitchen, entryways, and other common areas.
~ Stock facilities with paper, cleaning materials, and other supplies.
~ Perform preventive maintenance in and around facilities; inspect and certify fire extinguishers monthly and schedule their periodic recharging as needed.
~ Mow and water lawn and prune and maintain plants and other landscaping.
~ Clean, maintain, and repair equipment and supplies used for community dinners; assist in packing, loading, unloading, and unpacking equipment, supplies, and food.
~ Establish and conduct, as directed and authorized, recreational and leisure activities, functions, and field trips for youth and families. Keep accurate participation records and produce written or oral reports as needed or requested.
~ Establish and maintain professional-quality communications with staff and outside agencies, businesses, and individuals as needed.
~ Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
~ Knowledge of related laws, regulations, and policies.
~ Ability to use required equipment and tools.
~ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
~ Ability to operate lawn mowers and a variety of other grounds-keeping equipment and hand and power tools.
~ Ability to exercise necessary precaution when using cleaners and solvents; follow directions for use as specified by manufacturer.
~ Work independently in the absence of supervision.
~ Ability to perform physically demanding work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions.
~ Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
~ Ability to communicate effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
~ High school diploma or GED equivalent.
~ Six months maintenance-related work experience or completion of maintenance training program.
~ Six months experience working in a social service, education, or Elders program.
~ Must have a valid Washington State driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.
~ Must be able to successfully pass a criminal history background investigation.
