Senior Automated Controls Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automated Controls Specialist to join our team at the City of Kennewick. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and replacing automated electronic equipment, providing operator support and education, and performing installation and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)/telemetry systems, process instrumentation, and other equipment related to the water and wastewater systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install, maintain, diagnose, repair, and replace automated electronic equipment
- Provide operator support and education
- Perform installation and maintenance of SCADA/telemetry systems, process instrumentation, and other equipment related to the water and wastewater systems
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems and equipment
- Perform daily monitoring checks of the water/wastewater pumps and other electrical systems
- Open cabinets to perform temperature checks, volt and amp readings, and other troubleshooting to determine whether there is cause to summon an electrician
- Perform electrical work that requires modification or working with hand tools on an electrical system over 120-volts if overseen by an electrician
- 2-year degree in Communication Technology or Instrumentation & Controls, or graduation from a recognized electronics/instrumentation/automated controls trade school
- At least 5 years of previous work experience in SCADA/telemetry, with extensive electronics/electrical experience desirable
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, materials, equipment, tools, and procedures involved in the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electrical and automated electronic systems and equipment
- Knowledge and experience in AVEVA InTouch System Platform, RSLogix 500, and ControlLogix 5000, Windows Server Management, Microsoft Excel, and other computer applications needed to configure the SCADA system
- Valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver's License
- Flagging, first aid, and any other appropriate certifications as required by law, ordinance, or department regulations
- Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level II Certification within 6 months
The Senior Automated Controls Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with varying work hours, including evenings and weekends. The position requires the ability to work outdoors under adverse and varied weather conditions.
