Hartford Hospital stands as one of New England's largest and most esteemed teaching hospitals. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we offer advanced treatment options to our patients, supported by the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), a leading medical simulation training facility.
Role of the Advanced Practice Provider
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for conducting Pre-Admission evaluations for surgical patients across Hartford Hospital and its affiliated locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate preoperative care, including comprehensive history and physical examinations (H&P's) and necessary patient testing prior to surgical procedures.
- Engage with collaborating healthcare providers and specialists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Conduct thorough preoperative physical assessments in line with established licensure and certification standards.
- Order and interpret relevant laboratory tests, imaging studies, EKGs, and other diagnostic evaluations.
- Participate in system-wide councils aimed at standardizing care across Pre-Admission Centers.
- Lead initiatives to enhance surgical outcomes, minimize preventable readmissions, boost patient and provider satisfaction, and strengthen community and hospital provider relationships.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday

Qualifications
Essential Requirements for Advanced Practitioners:
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Master's program.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Connecticut.
- Board Certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Acute Care or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), or certification as a Physician Assistant.
- Prior experience in Pre Admission Testing is required.
