About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. As a member of our department, you will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment that values innovation and excellence in clinical care, education, and research.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead research studies related to shock, trauma, and surgical and medical critical care
  • Support writing efforts for external funding and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
  • Supervise graduate students, research assistants, and junior researchers in research activities
  • Collaborate with faculty and experts across various disciplines to enhance research impact
Requirements
  • Doctorate in Physiology, Pharmacology, or Medicine
  • Strong research experience in shock, organ transplantation, critical care, and reperfusion injury
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Grant writing skills and experience
  • Proficiency in statistical and graphics software packages
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large and small animal models of cardiovascular disease
  • Knowledge of the microcirculation, perfusion measurements, and mass transfer
  • Recipient of federal and non-federal research funding
