Position Overview:

As an Equipment Operator at TelCom Construction, you will play a vital role in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure. Your expertise in operating specialized machinery will ensure the safe and efficient execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate trenching and excavation machinery, including Plows, Backhoes, Excavators, and Dozers, on various job sites.
  • Install and maintain underground fiber optic and telecommunications cabling.
  • Restore and landscape areas affected by construction activities.
  • Dig pits, trenches, and potholes as per project specifications, ensuring safety around existing utilities.
  • Manage site setup and cleanup, including loading and unloading of tools and materials.
  • Establish safety perimeters using appropriate signage and barriers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Experience with digging and trenching equipment, understanding their capabilities and limitations.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and read work orders.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record; Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with crew members, clients, and vendors.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in construction or utility work.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility maps and prints.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed.
  • Capability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as standing, crouching, and climbing.
  • Must wear safety gear including boots, glasses, and hard hats.
