Role Overview

The Chief Executive Officer will provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for all LISC initiatives and investments in the region. This role entails securing local capital and resources, supported by National LISC, while nurturing relationships with government entities, philanthropic organizations, and community stakeholders. A deep commitment to the role of community-based organizations as catalysts for positive change is essential, alongside an understanding of the broader public and private partnerships that enhance community development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising
  • Strategically develop and maintain a portfolio of existing relationships, including philanthropy, financial institutions, corporations, and government, with a focus on increasing investment towards our initiatives.
  • Identify and cultivate new partnerships, providing innovative strategic opportunities with foundations and public/private partners dedicated to community development.
  • Lead efforts to achieve substantial annual fundraising targets to ensure operational sustainability and fulfill programmatic objectives.
  • Oversee the Local Advisory Board and its committees to align with the strategic direction of our initiatives.
  • Implement a comprehensive three-year strategic plan with guidance from the Market Excellence team.
Community Development Investment and Program Management
  • Oversee the expansion of the investment pipeline to support a holistic approach to equitable development.
  • Manage complex public-private partnerships and programs, ensuring effective collaboration with government entities.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for all programmatic activities, enhancing our presence in the community.
  • Engage a diverse array of community partners to deliver integrated services to targeted neighborhoods.
  • Develop strategies to enhance workforce and economic stability.
  • Forge key partnerships with public and private entities to advance our mission.
Public Policy and Advocacy
  • Lead initiatives on housing and community development policy matters.
  • Advocate for necessary tools and resources at local, state, and federal levels to support a comprehensive community development strategy.
Leadership and Management
  • Guide a dedicated team to implement our strategic vision and operational programs.
  • Manage the annual budget and ensure effective financial oversight.
  • Foster a positive organizational culture and collaborative relationships within the national framework.
  • Participate in national leadership structures and contribute to strategic discussions.
  • Highlight local innovations and programs within the national context.
  • Maximize the utilization of national resources and expertise in our initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution; Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years of senior management experience in community development and revitalization.
  • Proven experience in affordable housing development or financing.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure and sustain philanthropic funding.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in public speaking across diverse forums.
  • Strong management experience, including staff development and financial oversight.
  • Proven track record in strategic leadership and vision implementation.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage programs effectively.
  • Knowledge of community development strategies and real estate financing.
  • Experience in building relationships with diverse populations and organizations.
  • Understanding of housing policy and community development funding mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in using data to inform strategic decisions.
