Nurse Leader for Neurology Unit

As a Nurse Leader, you will be responsible for mentoring and guiding fellow nurses, contributing to a culture of excellence in patient care, and collaborating with a supportive leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships through mentoring and positive communication.
- Coach colleagues on cultural diversity and address workplace issues like horizontal violence and impairment.
- Demonstrate accountability for safe work hours, time management, and healthy lifestyles.
- Utilize performance improvement tools and techniques to enhance care quality and work environment.
- Share improvements and best practices across units and the business system.
- Show interest in developing others, impacting patients, families, peers, and healthcare team members through mentoring and education.
- Act as a preceptor for student nurses, interns, and new hires, and help develop new preceptors.
- Seek opportunities to share expertise within and beyond the clinical unit.
- Incorporate goals from national organizations and the health system to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
- Build healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, and disseminate new knowledge through various formats.
- Apply nursing knowledge within the framework of Relationship Based Care, addressing clinical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and effective communication to improve patient care and documentation.
- Lead clinical nursing practice improvements and support staff during change and transition.
- Practice participatory leadership and engage in shared leadership at various levels.
- Take on formal leadership roles in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and staff onboarding.
- Complete or assist with staff performance evaluations.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
- BS/BSN required. If BS degree is not in nursing, a Master's or higher degree in Nursing is required.
- Demonstrated competence as a Professional Staff Nurse.
- Knowledge and skills to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of various ages.
- Understanding of growth and development principles over the life span.
- Ability to assess patient data and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
- Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.
- Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities related to patient care.
- Critical thinking skills to exercise and lead others in the nursing process.
- Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
- Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within one year of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) within 6 months of hire or transfer.
