Job Overview

As a Folder Gluer Machine Specialist, you will be responsible for the effective setup and operation of folder gluing machinery. Your role is crucial in ensuring that production standards are met while minimizing waste and maximizing machine efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to established safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Conduct quality inspections and rectify any identified defects.
  • Manage changeovers and make readies for various carton structures, including:
    • 6 corners box
    • 4 corners box
    • Auto bottom
    • Straight line
  • Monitor equipment performance to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Adjust settings based on specific fold and glue patterns as per job requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance, adjustments, and repairs as necessary.
  • Oversee machine operation, identifying issues and making necessary adjustments.
  • Possess a general understanding of the Leary Glue System.
  • Verify carton counts for accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with team members across shifts regarding any operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to prioritize daily tasks and address any special instructions.
  • Execute purge procedures when transitioning to new products and complete required checklists.
  • Assist colleagues during breaks as needed.
  • Complete end-of-shift documentation accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Understand and meet production standards for waste and total utilization.
Work Environment:

The work environment is dynamic and may include exposure to:

  • Dust from the paper converting process.
  • Moving mechanical parts and lift trucks.
  • Shared spaces with other employees.
  • Hazardous chemicals present in the manufacturing area.
  • Temperature variations, particularly on hot, humid days.

Personal protective equipment such as hair nets, safety glasses, and hearing protection is required.

Training Requirements:
  • Safety procedures training.
  • Lock Out/Tag Out training.
  • Completion of Folder Gluer Operator training.
  • Job-specific training related to responsibilities.
Physical Demands:

This position requires:

  • Standing, walking, and manual dexterity to handle tools and controls.
  • Frequent communication and physical activities such as climbing, bending, and reaching.
  • Regular lifting of up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements with good color vision for quality control.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant industry experience.
  • Successful completion of at least six weeks of in-house training.

Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and measurements are essential, along with the ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
