Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program and operate CNC and NC machinery, ensuring high-quality output.
  2. Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to execute machining tasks accurately.
  3. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment.
  4. Utilize measuring tools proficiently to verify the dimensions of machined components.
  5. Document work processes and maintain accurate records, including cost cards and shop reports.
  6. Perform cleaning and deburring of machined parts to ensure quality standards.
  7. Assist in troubleshooting and programming CNC and NC equipment as needed.
  8. Support the training of new machinists and operators in machine operation and programming techniques.
  9. Recommend tooling and setups for various machining tasks to optimize efficiency.
  10. Contribute to the design and fabrication of jigs and fixtures for improved assembly processes.
  11. Notify management regarding the need for tool replacements and maintain tool storage areas.
  12. Stay updated on advancements in equipment and software relevant to CNC machining.
  13. Collaborate with team members to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
  14. Conduct routine maintenance on CNC and NC machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  15. Assist in the upkeep of tools and fixtures, ensuring proper storage and lubrication.
  16. Maintain organized program files for easy access and management.
  17. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives through structured problem-solving and LEAN methodologies.
  18. Ensure a clean and organized work area at all times, promoting safety and efficiency.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in CNC programming and operation.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in CNC machining.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Completion of a machine shop program or apprenticeship, with experience in operating engine lathes, vertical mills, and surface grinders.
  • Understanding of trigonometry and basic machining principles.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading and machine shop measuring tools.
