Position Overview

BioSpace, Inc. is in search of a Lead Financial Reporting Strategist to join our Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting division. This pivotal role emphasizes the evaluation of accounting for intricate and novel transactions. The successful candidate will oversee BioSpace's accounting policies and internal control frameworks while collaborating with various business units and senior management.

This position offers exposure to a diverse array of unique transactions, allowing the individual to play a vital role in BioSpace's comprehensive financial reporting and technical accounting processes. As BioSpace continues to expand globally, this role will be instrumental in a dynamic and evolving environment.

Work Arrangement: This position is hybrid, requiring three days onsite.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assess and interpret the accounting and reporting ramifications of acquisitions, collaborations, and licensing agreements by reviewing relevant documentation and engaging with appropriate business units.
  • Conduct research and formulate technical accounting position papers for significant or atypical transactions, documenting conclusions thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with various departments to facilitate acquisition due diligence, accounting, and integration efforts.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects as needed.
  • Ensure the precision of business development-related accounting and disclosures in BioSpace's financial reports.
  • Review internally generated reports and presentations for accuracy and consistency.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of BioSpace's accounting policies, collaborating with relevant business units to document key policy decisions.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of quarterly earnings releases and financial statements, ensuring compliance with reporting standards.
  • Prepare and/or review schedules pertaining to technical accounting matters to support financial disclosures.
  • Evaluate proposed changes to accounting standards and regulations, preparing summaries and implementation plans as necessary.
  • Assist in managing BioSpace's internal control environment, working with business unit leaders to update control documentation as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency and controls.
  • Coordinate with Internal Audit and external auditors to streamline review and audit processes.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships and maintain open communication with various business functions.
  • Stay updated on professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated business insight; ability to link operational decisions to financial outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and reporting requirements, with the ability to guide team members.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; capable of leading meetings and conveying complex accounting concepts effectively.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and tasks efficiently.
  • Team-oriented individual who builds productive working relationships and shares knowledge across the organization.
  • Strong business partnering skills with the confidence to challenge when necessary.
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Experience in public accounting or SEC reporting is essential, along with a CPA or advanced degree.
