With a capacity of 227 beds, our community hospital excels in emergency services, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound management, surgical procedures, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology.

As the sole acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley region, Knapp also serves as Weslaco's exclusive Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery.

Responsibilities:


Oversee the design, organization, coordination, and execution of the Risk Management Program aimed at mitigating and controlling losses to safeguard the human, physical, and financial assets of the organization.

Actively engage in performance improvement data collection and activities to foster an integrated program that guarantees the highest quality of healthcare delivery.

Collaborate with personnel responsible for safety and security while participating in risk-related initiatives in this domain. Provide support in claims investigation, management, and litigation processes. Facilitate the reporting of safety data and events.

Assess the effectiveness of risk management programs through data collection, follow-up, and trend analysis, presenting findings to relevant committees.

Assist in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures, including educational activities for staff regarding risk reduction and elimination throughout the organization.

Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to identify and resolve issues, manage costs, and implement new services and performance measures.


Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a related healthcare field is required.
  • Fellow or Diplomat of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers, Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of clinical and/or management experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, including at least two years of inpatient experience, is preferred.
  • Experience in risk management and/or professional liability claims management is required.
  • Knowledge of current State Laws and Regulations applicable to healthcare facilities is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is required.
