Job Summary

The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Purdue University is seeking a highly skilled Hydroponic Research Operations Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our research operations team, you will be responsible for the daily management of our hydroponic production and research facilities. Your primary duties will include operational planning, facility maintenance, and collaboration with our research team to implement and maintain hydroponic research and production systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain hydroponic production and research facilities, including planning and implementing operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Student Farm Manager and HLA Plant Growth Facility Team to design and implement controlled environment agriculture systems.
  • Support the delivery of experiential learning and outreach programs on campus and at the farm, including teaching collaborations with faculty and specialists.
  • Engage in public relations activities and participate in extension and outreach efforts to promote Purdue University's research and education programs.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for CEA facility operations and maintenance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in horticulture or a related field.
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in controlled environment agriculture.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to operate hydroponic equipment.
  • Ability to collect and manage data, prepare reports, and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
Nice to Have
  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining food safety systems.
