Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain Wastewater Treatment Equipment: Monitor and operate wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, filters, and chemical feed systems, to ensure efficient and compliant operation.
  • Perform Routine Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and facilities to identify and address any abnormalities or issues promptly.
  • Sampling and Testing: Collect wastewater samples at various stages of the treatment process and perform basic laboratory tests to assess water quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs and adjustments as needed to ensure continuous operation of the treatment plant.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of plant operations, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance activities. Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing wastewater treatment operations.
  • Assist with Facility Upgrades and Improvements: Assist in the implementation of upgrades and improvements to the wastewater treatment facility, including equipment upgrades, process modifications, and infrastructure enhancements.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or Level 1 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in wastewater treatment operations or a related field is desirable.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and regulations. Ability to operate and maintain pumps, motors, valves, and other mechanical equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Basic understanding of laboratory testing procedures and water chemistry. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 pounds). Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and navigate uneven terrain.
