Job Title: Clinical Nurse

Join The University of Kansas Health System as a Clinical Nurse in our Behavioral Health and Psychiatric department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Nurse ensures that all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, and patient satisfaction. This role requires a strong understanding of behavioral health and psychiatric care, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses.
  • Coordinates daily behavioral health plans of care.
  • Evaluates and implements plans to ensure the comfort and well-being of patients' medical, social, and emotional needs.
  • Provides patient and family education regarding behavioral, psychiatric, and medical needs.
  • Safely administers medication in accordance with provider orders, protocols, and policies.
  • Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team regarding care and disposition specific to patients' behavioral, psychiatric, and medical needs.
  • Delegates tasks as appropriate to Behavioral Health Technicians and other members of the behavioral, psychiatric, and medical healthcare teams.
  • Maintains a safe behavioral health environment.
  • Provides direct therapeutic interaction and participation with behavioral health patients and their families.
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree Nursing
  • 6 months or greater of RN experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing
  • ADN prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017; must complete BSN within 5 years of hire
License and Certification:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing RN license in state of practice
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) or obtained within 14 days
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Knowledge and understanding of physician desk reference guide
  • Computer literate and proficient in various computer programs
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards
