1. Full Time Night Shift Clinical Nurse Specialist (7:00 pm to 7:00 am)
2. Full Time Day Shift Float Clinical Nurse Specialist (Float between Cardiac Rehabilitation and the Medical/Surgical Unit) (minimum of 2 shifts weekly on the medical/surgical unit)

Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer
Position Overview:
Deliver exceptional care that prioritizes the comfort and well-being of patients and their families. Occasionally assume the role of charge nurse, delegating patient care assignments and responsibilities based on the competencies of team members. Maintain the standards of nursing practice, which encompass critical thinking, assessment, planning, provision, delegation, supervision, management, and evaluation.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Successful completion of NCLEX.
- Current nursing license in the State of Kansas.
- Accumulate 30 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every 2 years to maintain nursing licensure.
- Maintain certification in advanced levels of ACLS and PALS.
- Complete CPR review satisfactorily every 2 years.
Responsibilities of Clinical Nurse Specialist:
- Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring safety and infection control standards are met.
- Evaluate patient care outcomes, consulting with specialists as needed, and adjust nursing care processes to optimize patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of medical treatments.
- Monitor the emotional stability of patients, showing interest in their progress and preparing for ongoing care post-discharge.
- Support other nursing team members and collaborate with other healthcare disciplines.
- Assist Providers with examinations, procedures, and direct patient care processes.
- Coordinate ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients.
- Monitor patients' medical conditions and report any changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Direct and supervise LPNs, CNAs, and IAs.
- Exhibit professionalism and competency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role.
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments of patient pain levels.
- Ensure accuracy in patient care documentation in accordance with current standards and policies.
- Provide comprehensive patient care in an environment that prioritizes safety and privacy.
- Treat patients and their families with dignity and respect.
- Act as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Develop individualized care plans, revising them based on patient responses to treatment, and evaluate their effectiveness daily.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Plan and direct daily assignments for team members based on patient acuity, staff qualifications, continuity of care, workload, and infection control practices.
- Ensure timely execution of physician orders and participate in rounds with physicians.
- Conduct comprehensive head-to-toe assessments on all patients and perform reassessments as per policy.
