Position Overview

As a vital member of the Meat and Seafood Department, the butcher specialist is dedicated to delivering outstanding service and high-quality products to our valued customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction is our top priority.
  • Adhere to all weights and measures regulations.
  • Organize and maintain the meat, poultry, and seafood display cases.
  • Assist customers in selecting the finest products for their culinary needs.
  • Ensure proper rotation of stock in the refrigeration and freezer units.
  • Follow instructions and procedures from the head butcher diligently.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace at all times.
  • Keep all equipment, including saws and grinders, in a clean and hygienic condition.
Qualifications
  • Preferred 2-4 years of prior experience in butchery.
  • Some experience with seafood is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various cuts of beef, lamb, pork, and poultry.
  • Understanding of profit margins and how to manage them during cutting and trimming.
  • Exceptional knife skills are essential.
  • Food Safety Certification is preferred.
  • Diverse culinary skills are a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with English-speaking customers.
  • Exhibit the highest standards of knife safety.
  • Provide excellent customer service while ensuring a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Commitment to quality products, supporting local suppliers, and promoting environmental responsibility.
  • A sense of humor and a passion for engaging with customers.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking for 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use includes single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Job requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
