Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services seeks a highly experienced and skilled Immunization Program Director to lead the Immunization Section. This is a senior-level management position that requires a strong background in public health, leadership, and program management.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Public Health Programs: Develop, direct, and evaluate statewide public health programs to prevent and control infectious diseases, including the collection and analysis of surveillance data to support and target interventions.
  • Lead the Immunization Section: Provide overall vision, leadership, and direction for the Immunization Section, developing and establishing program goals and objectives, and ensuring the implementation of program standards, operation, performance plans, and service delivery benchmarks.
  • Manage Budget and Resources: Oversee section budget and develop, review, and approve program budgets, major expenditures, projects, federal grant submissions, and contracts, ensuring all approved activities, priorities, and requirements of funding sources are met.
  • Supervise Direct Reports: Supervise direct reports, overseeing work plans, determining long-range staffing needs, conducting hiring processes, and providing new hires with orientation and training.
  • Communicate with Stakeholders: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels of an organization, agencies, providers, stakeholders, and elected officials, ensuring accurate and timely responses to inquiries.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of public health related state and federal laws, regulations, policies, rules, and requirements, as well as knowledge of strategic planning, budget management, human resource management, and project management.
  • Leadership and Management: Ability to lead in an environment of change, supervise the work of others, build effective work teams, communicate effectively, and manage and motivate staff.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to interpret data, develop effective operating procedures, and identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.

Working Conditions: This position requires working under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, and may require participation in disaster response and/or recovery or COOP activation.
