Job Description

Midwest Press & Automation LLC is a dynamic company that specializes in the metal forming industry. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Reverse engineering existing components to create prints and document conditions.
  • Designing and engineering metal forming equipment using industry-standard software and procedures.
  • Estimating time and material costs for repairs and modifications.
  • Repairing and modifying metal forming presses, components, and related equipment.
  • Developing timelines and collaborating with department leads to maintain those timelines.
  • Communicating with customers, vendors, and MPA employees to ensure project success.
  • Working in a combination of shop and office environments.
  • Traveling occasionally for site visits, typically day trips.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology, or at least 7 years of relevant work experience in machine repair or mechanical design.
  • Considerable experience in press repair may be considered with additional training.
  • Proficiency in CAD 3D modeling software, specifically AutoCAD products (Inventor, Fusion, etc.).
  • Ability to understand, read, and create mechanical drawings.
  • Accuracy in using precision measuring and inspection equipment.

Desired Skills:

  • Conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Knowledge and experience in welding and related metallurgy.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly and/or machining.
