Job Title: Heavy Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team at KC's Truck Equipment Repair Services. As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on diesel engines, air and hydraulic braking systems, suspension systems, drive train assemblies, automatic transmissions, differentials, hydraulic lift systems, electrical systems, and body assemblies.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on diesel engines, air and hydraulic braking systems, suspension systems, drive train assemblies, automatic transmissions, differentials, hydraulic lift systems, electrical systems, and body assemblies.
- Troubleshoot to the highest level.
- Repair a variety of semi-tractors, trailers, and equipment, including Cummins, Macks, and Detroit Diesels.
- Ensure accurate diagnosis based on customer statements and determine appropriate repairs needed.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment being used.
- Ensure timely and effective repairs of any problems found during inspection.
- Prepare and complete required paperwork.
Qualifications:
- High energy, self-motivated Service Mechanic.
- State certifications.
- Maintain an organized and safe work environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Pays great attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong working knowledge with complex heavy truck diagnostics and repairs, including engines, transmission, electrical, steering, and suspensions.
- ASE certification and CDL endorsement a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent (trade school preferred).
- Valid driver's license.
- 3 years' experience servicing and maintaining diesel engines.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair medium to heavy-duty vehicles.
- Must have a complete set of hand tools and be proficient in all areas of truck repair.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work intelligently with common sense and keep the work environment clean.
