Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize standard curriculum alongside supplementary resources and SEI methodologies to impart both content knowledge and English language skills.
  • Support students in achieving English proficiency and mastering academic content, focusing on higher-order skills such as critical thinking to meet grade-level standards.
  • Provide guidance and collaborate with school leaders and educators to develop strategies tailored to the needs of English Learner students.
  • Continuously assess student progress in language acquisition to inform placement decisions and program exit criteria.
  • Assist in the organization and execution of annual assessments for designated English Learner students as required by educational regulations.
  • Engage with parents and guardians of bilingual students to discuss progress and service modifications through various communication methods.
  • Collaborate with school administration and instructional teams to create effective support schedules.
  • Participate in school-wide meetings and initiatives.
  • Report directly to the Principal.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:

  • Connecticut Teaching Certification with dual endorsement in Bilingual/TESOL; preference given to candidates with experience in Sheltered English Immersion and fluency in a language other than English.
  • Experience working with English Learner students is preferred, with a solid understanding of identification, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrative staff.
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to promote a positive learning environment and effective classroom management.
