Position Overview

The Financial Operations Manager will oversee the fiscal management and accounting functions within the organization. The position also involves assisting the Chief Financial Officer in the annual budgeting process and supervising accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily fiscal accounting activities with the team to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Direct and approve the preparation and presentation of financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc basis for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Consult with leadership on fiscal policy and practices, making recommendations for updates and changes in principles and tax codes.
  • Lead the preparation of budgets, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Provide timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress across various programs and activities.
  • Oversee compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Lead and participate in all company audits.
  • Prepare and oversee reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Regularly review financial management processes and procedures for compliance and efficiency.
  • Prepare recommendations and oversee the implementation of appropriate internal controls to safeguard the assets of the Foundation and its affiliated entities.
  • Jointly manage banking relationships and cash management treasury functions.
  • Closely monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Co-supervise accounting staff while adhering to the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving issues.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and the ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Logical problem-solving techniques, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, budget, control, and evaluate to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the Foundation.
  • Excellent working relationships with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to create clear, legible, and concise written documentation.
  • Leadership by example.
  • Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business, or 7 years of experience as an Accounting Supervisor/Manager, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $85K-$105K annually, depending on experience.
