Shipyard Staffing LLC is seeking experienced Ship Superintendents at various levels for a prominent role in the naval repair sector.

Compensation: $30 - $37 per hour

Position Overview:
Level 1:
  • Join the Program Management Team to oversee a specific segment of Navy surface ship repair projects, focusing on the installation, modification, and maintenance of intricate systems and equipment in critical areas such as Engineering, Crew Berthing, and Combat Systems.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Address challenges that exceed the capabilities of craft supervision, collaborating with clients, subcontractors, and other departments to minimize disruptions to workflow.
  • Conduct thorough ship inspections.
  • Participate in meetings and assist craft personnel in developing production schedules and manpower forecasts by analyzing detailed work items and related reports.
  • Keep craft supervision and subcontractors informed about project milestones and deadlines.
  • Evaluate production progress and communicate status updates to the Project Management Team.
  • Engage with various shipyard departments, including Estimating, Quality Assurance, and Environmental Support. A minimum of 5 years of experience in U.S. Navy ship repair and modernization is required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, along with relevant Trade or Armed Forces training and 5 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with shipboard work control and Government Work Authorization procedures.
  • Ability to propose and implement improvements to workflow processes using the Inspection Discrepancy Report (IDR) methodology.

Level 2:
  • Similar responsibilities as Level 1, with an emphasis on leadership and project management.
  • At least 3 of the 5 years of experience should be in a supervisory role.

Level 3:
  • Advanced responsibilities in managing ship repair projects, ensuring compliance with timelines and budgets.
  • Lead efforts to resolve complex issues and maintain communication with all stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to assess and report on production status.
  • Experience working collaboratively with various shipyard departments.
  • 5 years of relevant experience, with a focus on supervisory roles.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus relevant training and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of shipboard procedures and reporting processes.
