The Engineering Readiness Assistance Team (ERAT) delivers material evaluation support and crew training to U.S. Navy ships stationed in various fleet concentration areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide essential Supply and Habitability material evaluation support and crew training to U.S. Navy vessels.
- Assess, evaluate, and advise commands on the overall condition of equipment related to Damage Control, Auxiliary systems, and main propulsion.
- Serve as an instructor and mentor to both officers and enlisted personnel.
- Offer feedback to facilitate successful crew transitions as ships prepare for readiness evaluations.
- Analyze equipment trends and commonalities to recommend enhancements for acquisition and maintenance planning.
- Collaborate with ship's force to prioritize maintenance actions leading to material improvements.
- Conduct onboard evaluations, prioritize necessary repairs, and train ship personnel.
- Provide detailed assessments of material condition, crew proficiency, and engineering system readiness to the ship and its command structure.
- Recommend additional support if necessary and engage in events to capture lessons learned to enhance combat readiness.
- Draft and submit technical feedback reports as required to contribute to fleet readiness.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS or associate degree, along with 3 years of relevant experience within the last 5 years. Educational requirements may be adjusted or waived based on applicable work experience.
- Active Secret Security Clearance is mandatory. Sponsorship is not available.
- Proven experience in delivering training and assessments at a senior technical level.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Graduate of associated Navy A and C schools with expertise in Damage Control, Auxiliary, and Main Propulsion fields.
- Minimum of 20 years of Navy experience at the E-7 level or higher.
- Experience in maintenance and training staff roles (e.g., Immediate Superior In Charge, Type Commander, or Afloat Training Group).
- Familiarity with Navy shipboard operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
