POSITION: Kitchen Sanitation Specialist

REPORTS TO: Culinary Director

FLSA: Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Kitchen Sanitation Specialist plays a crucial role in upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards for dining ware, glassware, cooking tools, and more, utilizing both mechanical and manual cleaning techniques. This role also ensures that the dishwashing area is kept clean, safe, and sanitary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports the mission, vision, and objectives of the organization, promoting and embodying company culture.
  • Demonstrates punctuality and reliability in attendance.
  • Assists in clearing and resetting dining areas after each meal course.
  • Provides assistance to residents in the dining space as needed.
  • Delivers prompt and courteous service to all.
  • Operates the dishwashing machine and organizes the dishwashing area.
  • Maintains infection control standards, regularly updating and inspecting sanitizer and dish machine temperature logs.
  • Cleans dishes, kitchen, food preparation equipment, and utensils, utilizing both dishwasher and manual methods.
  • Organizes clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in designated storage areas.
  • Sorts and rinses dirty dishes, glassware, and utensils, preparing them for the dish machine.
  • Stacks clean dishes and transports them to the cooking line and other storage areas, re-washing as necessary.
  • Changes dishwater in the machine every two hours or prior to washing glassware or tableware.
  • Hand-washes pots, pans, and trays as required.
  • Assists cooks in meal serving and plating as needed.
  • Supports food preparation tasks as necessary.
  • Cleans up spills to maintain dry kitchen floors.
  • Sweeps and mops floors, and manages mats.
  • Participates in training sessions and keeps up to date with required training through the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Performs other duties as assigned that contribute to the success of the community and the well-being of our residents.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Basic understanding of various kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Possesses a current Food Handler's card.
  • Meets all health requirements mandated by State regulations.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Communicates positively and effectively with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates compassion and a genuine interest in working with the senior population.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Maintains CPR and/or First Aid Certification as required by State regulations.
  • Passes a Criminal Background and fingerprint check.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong command of the English language sufficient for reading and writing.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to walk and stand continuously.
  • Capable of performing work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Infrequent sitting required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds constantly, 11-50 pounds frequently, and occasionally 51-100 pounds.
  • Must be able to carry weights similar to lifting requirements.
  • Pushes weights up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Frequent climbing of stairs is required, with elevator access available when necessary.
  • Frequent bending at the waist, knees, hips, and spine; may involve manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
  • Frequent squatting to reach below the knee; may involve lifting of 50 pounds or less.
  • Occasional twisting or rotating at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck, manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
  • Frequent reaching, with occasional overhead reaching requiring manipulation of weights of 10 pounds or less, and below waist manipulation of 25 pounds or more.
