POSITION: Kitchen Sanitation Specialist

REPORTS TO: Culinary Director

FLSA: Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Kitchen Sanitation Specialist plays a crucial role in upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards for dishware, utensils, and kitchen equipment through both mechanical and manual cleaning techniques. This role also ensures that the dishwashing area is kept clean, safe, and sanitary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports the mission, vision, and objectives of the organization, promoting and embodying company culture.
  • Demonstrates punctuality and reliability in attendance.
  • Assists in clearing and resetting dining areas after each meal service.
  • Provides assistance to residents in the dining space as needed.
  • Delivers courteous and prompt service.
  • Operates the dishwashing machine and manages the setup and breakdown of the dishwashing area.
  • Maintains infection control protocols, regularly updating and inspecting sanitizer and dish machine temperature logs.
  • Cleans kitchenware, food preparation tools, and utensils, utilizing both dishwasher and manual washing methods.
  • Organizes and stores clean dishes and utensils in designated areas.
  • Sorts and rinses dirty dishes and utensils, preparing them for the dishwashing process.
  • Stacks and organizes clean dishes, transporting them to the appropriate storage locations.
  • Changes dishwater in the machine at regular intervals to ensure cleanliness.
  • Manually washes pots, pans, and trays as required.
  • Assists culinary staff in meal service and plating as necessary.
  • Supports food preparation tasks as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and dry kitchen environment by promptly addressing spills.
  • Conducts floor cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping.
  • Participates in training sessions and maintains current training certifications through the designated Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to contribute to the success of the community and the well-being of residents.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Basic understanding of kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Possesses a valid Food Handler's card.
  • Complies with all health regulations as mandated by the state.
  • Ensures a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Communicates effectively and positively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Exhibits compassion and a genuine interest in working with the senior community.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Maintains CPR and/or First Aid Certification as required by state law.
  • Successfully passes a background check.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to read and write effectively.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Occasional sitting is required.
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds, frequently lifts 11-50 pounds, and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
  • Consistently carries up to 10 pounds, frequently carries 11-50 pounds, and occasionally carries up to 100 pounds.
