Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation System Designer to join our team at Automationtechies in Winchester, VA, Johnson City, TN or Raleigh, NC.

This is a hybrid position that offers the opportunity to work on various automation projects and design instrumentation and control systems. As an Automation System Designer, you will utilize your electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or computer engineering principles to provide design solutions for I&C systems spanning multiple customers.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing field instrumentation, control panels, loop drawings, camera and security subsystems, and network design. Additionally, they should be familiar with UL standards, have excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, and possess at least 3 years of AutoCAD or similar experience.

About the Job

  • Duties include designing panel hardware drawings, interpreting contract documents, developing hardwired IO lists, and coordinating drafting efforts.
  • You will also generate panel hardware submittals, respond to comments, and perform basic panel checkout.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Engineering preferred.
  • Must have experience with field instrumentation hardware and control panel design.
  • Familiarity with circuit design and UL standards required.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency necessary.
  • At least 3 years of AutoCAD or similar experience required.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Travel Requirements

Estimated at less than 20% overnight travel, this role requires visits to project sites to gather information, conduct meetings, or meet with customers periodically.
