About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior EHS Specialist to join our team at GAF. As a key member of our Environmental Health and Safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate EHS operations and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Develop and implement injury prevention strategies to reduce workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Support environmental compliance efforts and monitor permit requirements.
  • Identify training programs to meet plant needs and track training progress.
  • Conduct audits to monitor personnel and workspace improvements and develop corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Plant Manager, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering Departments on facility deficiencies.
  • Facilitate EHS program champions to support location's periodic environmental, health and safety management system self-assessments.
  • Ensure Corporate EHS Application practices are embedded in the operation.
  • Assist with new employee orientation and ensure completion of EHS training for all employees.
  • Use data to make recommendations on changes to training programs, SOPs, JSAs, and tools to prevent accidents.
  • Work with Human Resources and Corporate EHS on Workers Compensation cases.
  • Support sustainability operations assessments within the plant.
  • Lead incident investigations, development of corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience in workplace environmental, health and safety program management.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, policies, programs, PPE, environmental policies (EPA), safety engineering, accident/injury investigation procedures and operating rules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
