Job Responsibilities:
- Efficiently operate horizontal/directional drill rigs and associated locating equipment.
- Conduct preparatory activities to ensure safe and effective drilling operations.
- Pothole utilities that may be affected during the drilling process.
- Verify the location of existing utilities.
- Prepare drilling fluids by combining water with appropriate chemicals based on soil conditions.
- Accurately guide the drill head from the starting point to the endpoint while avoiding existing utilities.
- Connect and manage the necessary equipment for successful bore completion.
- Conduct thorough pre-drilling inspections to ensure all utilities are accounted for and develop strategies for navigating obstacles.
- Monitor and maintain drilling equipment and mixing units to ensure optimal performance.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of relevant operational experience.
- Valid CDL Class A driver's license.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience in a similar role.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position operates primarily in a field environment, requiring physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks such as bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting. Candidates should be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.
The physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as well as the capability to maintain clarity of vision at varying distances. Precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to distinguish colors are also essential.
