Eastern Sports Management (ESM) is a prominent management firm overseeing various recreational facilities across multiple states.

We are currently seeking applications for the position of **Aquatic Safety Officer**. This role is essential in ensuring a secure swimming environment by upholding all safety protocols and effectively managing emergencies within our facilities. The Aquatic Safety Officer will report directly to the Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor designated areas to guarantee the safety of all guests.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide necessary assistance.
  • Advise swimmers about hazardous zones.
  • Perform rescues for individuals in distress and administer first aid as required.
  • Maintain order in aquatic areas.
  • Successfully complete the Lifeguard pretest biannually to retain employment.
  • Assist in keeping the swimming environment clean and sanitary.
  • Conduct routine chemical assessments as scheduled.
  • Document any incidents or accidents as needed.
  • Work effectively in a wet aquatic environment.
  • Handle chemicals under supervision if over 18 years of age.
  • Exhibit strong customer service capabilities.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team setting.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Engage in In-Service Trainings.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics Manager, Aquatics Director, or General Manager.
Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience: A minimum of less than high school education; or up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence. Proficient in speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and apply these skills in practical situations involving currency and measurements.

Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in various formats. Capable of addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Basic familiarity with standard computer workstations is required.

Certifications: Candidates must be willing to obtain the following certifications:
  • Lifeguarding
  • CPR/AED
  • First Aid
Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this role include:
  • Regularly required to communicate effectively.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and utilize hands for various tasks.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move weights ranging from 10 to over 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes using only legs, and retrieve a 10-pound object from the bottom of a 12-foot pool.
Work Environment: The characteristics of the work environment include:
  • Regular exposure to wet or humid conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Typically loud noise levels.
