Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of pressure vessels, fluid lines, and flex elements for spacecraft and launch vehicle applications.
  • Creation of detailed drawings, including tolerance and GD&T setup, to ensure accurate and efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Ownership of the design release cycle, including drawings release and DFM reviews, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Analysis of primary and secondary spacecraft pressure vessels, including structural analysis and integration with loads and dynamics environments.
  • Development and refinement of finite element models to validate and correlate with test results.
  • Generation of strength checks and analysis reports to ensure the integrity of spacecraft and launch vehicle systems.
  • Support for test and verification planning, including report generation and configuration development.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in the prediction/validation of low and/or high-frequency structural dynamics and loads, in addition to finite element modeling.
  • Solid foundation of structural static/dynamic fundamentals.
  • Passion for spacecraft structural/environmental loads development/validation.
  • Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods.
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or automotive in areas such as external loads, vibro-acoustic analysis, thermal loading analysis, and finite element modeling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • COPV pressure vessel design and analysis.
  • Metallic pressure vessel design and analysis.
  • Fluids lines design and analysis.
  • Flex elements design and analysis.
  • Composite design and analysis skills in thermoset, thermoplastic, metal matrix, and ceramic matrix composites.
  • Manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization, and allowable development.
  • Experience testing materials, joints, components, and vehicles.
  • Structural optimization using standard industry codes.
  • Experience with ProEngineer Wildfire 4/Creo Parametric or greater piping/routing module.
  • Experience with human spaceflight.
  • Experience with composites.
  • Experience with AIAA S-080 and S-081.
  • Experience with EJMA Ninth and Tenth Edition.

  • Pay range: $47-$66 per hour.
