About the Role:

Pet Food Express is seeking a highly experienced and skilled District Manager to lead our San Francisco and North Bay area stores. As a District Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of an assigned district, ensuring consistency with Company standards and expectations. You will apply best-practices in retail business development, recruitment and training, people development, guest relationship development, profitability, and related initiatives to drive performance and achievement levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a clear vision and strategy for the growth of our stores in partnership with Regional Directors, District Leadership, and Store Operations teams.
  2. Lead projects and develop targeted training to align store teams with organizational goals, communicating the inspiration and vision of our brand.
  3. Create a sales culture to drive profitability through analysis of business, competitors, trends, innovation, and the impact on customers, associates, and store operations.
  4. Lead store teams to achieve outstanding results, ensuring the achievement of all objectives, including sales, expense control, productivity, and the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations.
  5. Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development to ensure organizational capacity meets or exceeds current and future business goals, creating a pipeline of effective leadership talent for growth and new locations.
  6. Partner with Recruiting, HR, and District Leadership to build a recruitment strategy that increases efficiency in people operations, recruiting, onboarding, developing, and retaining talent.
  7. Develop outside applicant streams to fill open positions and lead managers to build a high-performing, inclusive, and engaging environment.
  8. Set monthly volume and category targeted sales goals in collaboration with the District Management team, develop and implement company sales training and strategies, and review performance daily/weekly, course-correcting as needed.
  9. Partner with merchandising and logistics partners on channel product selling and performance maximization, using inventory procedures to address out-of-stocks and on-hand variances.
  10. Ensure stores and services are fully operational and meet grand opening standards, with assigned stores having high-quality execution and implementation of all company-directed visual standards and updates.
  11. Optimize the performance of people and processes to deliver the best possible customer experience, reflecting our brand standards and company values.
  12. Maintain a presence in all store locations to provide support and be where the action is, including nights and weekends.

Requirements:

  1. 5+ years of multi-location retail management experience.
  2. A demonstrated track record of successfully driving sales, positive results, and growth.
  3. Clear and effective communication, active listening skills, and the ability to adapt communication style to the needs of the audience and/or situation.
  4. Exceptional organization, attention to detail, accuracy, and a sense of urgency approach.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative, able to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  6. Commitment to creating an inclusive workplace culture, providing appreciation and recognition, and understanding individual strengths of team members.
  7. Leadership experience and management effectiveness to build strong teams, engage, support, and develop employees through feedback, evaluation, coaching, and performance management.
  8. Ability to obtain buy-in, balance competing perspectives, and make informed decisions based on available information, relevant data, logical assumptions, and strong judgment.
  9. Ability to effectively cope with and support others through change and ambiguity, and remain calm and focused in pressure situations.
  10. Strong quantitative skills pertinent to inventory control and sales analysis.
  11. Ongoing commitment to continuous learning and development, creativity, and innovative thinking.
  12. Strong project management skills with demonstrated success managing multiple projects.
  13. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, email, and business communication applications (Slack, Teams, Zoom) required.
  14. Flexibility to work on-site/visit stores in the Greater San Francisco and North Bay area.
  15. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
  16. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

The salary range for this position is expected to be $110,000 - $140,000/yr. Starting salary is determined on many factors, including but not limited to, local market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, a candidate's actual skills and experience, and budget constraints.
