Position Title: Pharmacist
Reports To: Director of Pharmacy
Employment Status: Non-Exempt (Salaried)
Role SummaryThe Pharmacist plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the on-site pharmacy, medication repository, and the development of medication assistance programs.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the repository, including ordering and receiving medications, maintaining accurate records, verifying prescriptions, reporting incidents, notifying about drug recalls, and managing expired medications.
- Oversee drug inventory for the repository, samples, and medications administered in the clinic.
- Order vaccines and therapeutic injections, ensure optimal inventory levels, return unused or expired medications, and manage relationships with wholesalers.
- Provide guidance to pharmacy students and volunteers.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure best prescribing practices, explore drug alternatives, and provide information on medication assistance programs.
- Administer medication and vaccine billing formularies.
- Oversee the 340B program and audits, ensuring that patient and provider files are up-to-date for revenue generation through contract pharmacies.
- Monitor manufacturer refunds, pricing catalogs, and compliance databases.
- Manage vaccine ordering and rebate initiatives.
- Lead the development of the in-house pharmacy, including system selection, workflow, policies, procedures, and staffing.
- Provide patient counseling, drug information, medication therapy management, and support during hospital discharge transitions.
- Valid Pharmacist licensure.
- Preferred minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Ability to prepare reports and conduct data analysis.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft products and EHR software; experience with eClinicalWorks is a plus.
- Capable of working collaboratively in a close-knit environment.
- Physically able to perform tasks associated with the role.
- Located within a busy medical clinic.
- Engage closely with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Visual acuity sufficient for reading and operating equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Hearing ability to interact directly or via telephone.
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Full-time non-exempt position.
- Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM (as needed), averaging 32 hours per week.
