Position TitlePharmacy Technician
Reporting StructureReports to the Director of Pharmacy

Role PurposeThe Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the pharmacist by ensuring the efficient and friendly delivery of pharmaceutical services to patients. This position also involves assisting with inventory management as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with patients and staff to facilitate access to medications
- Support inventory management, including ordering and organizing stock
- Communicate recall information to patients when necessary
- Handle transactions at the cash register, including cash and card payments
- Respond to inquiries via telephone
- Maintain accurate referral documentation
- Oversee clinic medication orders
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of Heartland Community Health Center
- Stay informed about the 340B program and related practices
- Assist with compliance for the 340B program as required
- Help the pharmacist with prescription filling tasks
- Prepare prescriptions for delivery or mailing
- Support the pharmacist with medication therapy management (MTM)
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
- Proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Kansas Pharmacy Technician License
- National certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) preferred
- Previous pharmacy experience is advantageous
- Commitment to ongoing education as required
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on patient care
- Cultural sensitivity to diverse patient and employee backgrounds
- Understanding of patient care principles
- Ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues and healthcare team members
- Organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and pharmacy management systems; experience with eClinicalWorks is preferred
- Calm and effective in emergency situations
- Respectful and courteous in patient interactions
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of prescription insurance billing and prior authorizations
- Basic mathematical skills for handling measurements and calculations
- This is a full-time non-exempt position. The schedule may be adjusted by supervisors as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
