Fermentation Process Engineer Internship Opportunity

Our DepartmentOur department is responsible for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients, which are used in our innovative oral products. We operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities in the United States, and our newest facility in Clayton, North Carolina, is a state-of-the-art facility that houses the Fermentation, Recovery, and Purification processes.
Internship ProgramOur internship program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in a global pharmaceutical company. As an intern, you will work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable skills and knowledge in the field of pharmaceutical manufacturing. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work.
Scope of PositionThe Fermentation/Recovery Process Engineer Intern will focus on learning core pharmaceutical manufacturing-related processes within the relevant discipline. You will have the opportunity to learn and work with a variety of processes, including automation, communications, chemistry, document control, environmental health and safety, engineering, human resources, IT, microbiology, project controls, quality assurance, quality control, supply chain, and training.
Responsibilities- Conduct research, gather, and analyze data, prepare and/or review documents, reports, and/or presentations
- Learn and support relevant processes, standards, and policies
- Learn the practical application of cLEAN (LEAN) practices in a manufacturing context
- Work with, observe, assist, and/or collaborate with and learn from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
- Apply and adhere to all Standard Operating Processes (SOPs), policies, and environmental, health, and safety requirements
- Support and learn processes, activities, relevant standards as assigned
- Meet and network with other interns
- Participate in team meetings
- Complete assigned trainings
To be eligible for this internship, you must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline. You should have a strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. You should also have good organizational skills, project management skills, and attention to detail. Additionally, you should be able to balance multiple projects and priorities, and have strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
