About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm System Designer to join our team at Jobot. As a Fire Alarm System Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing fire alarm systems for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Attend project turnover meetings with design supervisors, sales teams, and field superintendents to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and related tools to create fire alarm design drawings and submittal packages within system specifications, costs, and planning constraints.
  • Prepare submittal documents and applications for permits, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Maintain project drawing files, associated records, and documentation in an organized manner.
  • Develop and maintain an updated library of symbols and drawings (templates) for use on future projects.
  • Design and implement spreadsheets and other tools to enhance the quality of drawings while reducing time required for standard tasks.
  • Operate large plotters, scanners, and reproduction equipment with precision.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in CAD Computer Aided Design or equivalent experience in design/drafting fire alarm systems.
  • Formal CAD system or AutoCAD software training or experience.
  • Basic working knowledge and understanding of fire alarm related electronics, codes, and practices.
  • Proficient with all basic computer skills and computer software applications, including MS Office and AutoCAD 2004 or higher.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding architectural, electrical, and mechanical layouts and diagrams.
  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of NFPA codes and standards.
  • Strong ability to follow directions given by supervisors to develop/design drawings.
  • Excellent organization, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Good driving record with a valid driver's license.
  • Fire certifications a plus.
  • NICET certification a plus.
