Community Engagement and Marketing Specialist

Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Director of Economic Development, the individual will oversee and execute communication strategies to effectively share timely and relevant information regarding local business initiatives.
This role supports the Economic Development department by assisting in event organization and community marketing efforts. The position reports directly to the Director of Economic Development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Regularly update the municipal website to ensure that the latest and most accurate information is readily available.
• Manage the municipality's social media platforms by crafting and sharing content, disseminating important messages, and engaging with the community through comments and messages.
• Develop and maintain a messaging schedule for information displays at key community locations, ensuring timely updates.
• Contribute to the creation of marketing and promotional campaigns.
• Design both digital and print marketing materials as needed.
• Participate in the planning, coordination, execution, and promotion of community events.
• Create event brochures and keep the event calendar up to date.
• Attend and prepare for necessary meetings.
• Serve as Co-chair for the Arts and Entertainment District Committee.
• Oversee and facilitate the management of building and park rentals, including maintaining the rental schedule and handling reservations.
• Collect and manage data for grant reporting purposes.
• Maintain databases for volunteers, artists, vendors, and entertainment.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
• Conduct research as directed.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or a related discipline, or possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in event management, web administration, social media strategy, or a closely related field.
• Comfortable using publishing software.
• Availability for occasional evening and weekend hours based on event and meeting schedules.
• Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
• Completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
Benefits:
As a full-time employee of the Town, you are eligible and required to contribute to the Maryland State Retirement plan.
Full-time employees can participate in the Town's health benefits program, with eligibility commencing on the first day of the month.
During the first year of employment, you will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 3.33 hours per month, with personal leave accrued annually at 12 hours per quarter. Sick leave is accrued at 8 hours per month.
Employees are entitled to 15 paid holidays each year, subject to the Town's standard full-time benefits accrual policies.
The Town reserves the right to modify or eliminate any benefits at its discretion.
