About the Role

Benchling is seeking a seasoned Chief Accounting Officer to lead our global accounting and finance functions. Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team and drive business decisions through data-driven insights.
  2. Accounting Operations: Oversee the planning, direction, and coordination of all accounting activities, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  3. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and identify and mitigate financial risks.
  4. Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing accounting team, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to ensure their success.
  5. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance financial systems.
  6. External Reporting: Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, including SEC filings, and engage with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; MBA or Master's in Accounting preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum 10 years of accounting and finance experience, with a minimum of 8 years in a senior leadership position in a public technology company.
  3. Skills: Proven track record of financial leadership, accounting expertise, and experience with financial systems, including multi-currency consolidations and SEC reporting.
  4. Leadership: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
  5. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present to senior management, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
