Agricultural Insurance Specialist

This role involves marketing and selling Compeer Financial's insurance products to clients and prospective clients, generating new business in agricultural risk services while building strong relationships with clients and prospects.
The successful candidate will combine agricultural and business knowledge with in-depth understanding of the client's operation to provide innovative and workable alternatives to solve problems faced by clients and prospective clients.
Frequent on-farm meetings with clients will be necessary to discuss insurance products, and collaboration with the team will be required to provide insurance expertise throughout the organization.
Essential Functions:- Aggressively market insurance products and expertise by building relationships with clients, prospects, and influencers, leading to new business and referrals.
- Maintain client relationships through frequent interactions and periodic sales calls.
- Deliver value-added insurance services to clients.
- Maintain prospect files, establish ongoing prospecting plans and activities, and meet sales goals for Compeer's insurance business.
- Work to achieve objectives set by the team for new business development within the designated marketplace.
- Complete required documentation, including applications, production reports, acreage reporting, and claims for clients.
- Review coverage selection with clients throughout the year to ensure reporting of any potential claims.
- Monitor claims and ensure timely settlement of claims for clients and approved insurance providers.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of crop insurance products available through Compeer Financial and all related FCS eligibility regulations.
- Remain current on product details and program changes.
A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, agriculture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum experience required is based on the size, scope, and complexity of the position. Experience in agribusiness/farming industry or similar experience in agriculture credit or closely related field is required.
Current state insurance license to sell crop insurance is preferred.
General knowledge of crop insurance programs and information, grain marketing, finance, and macroeconomics is required.
General knowledge of accounting principles and practices is required.
General knowledge of Compeer's insurance products and services, as well as credit operations, is required.
General knowledge of farm production methods, farm products, and farm business management/finance is required.
Knowledge of finance, macroeconomics, and competitive products and services is required.
Analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
Effective negotiating and selling skills are required.
Computer skills, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.) and other related accounting applications, are required.
Strong organizational skills are required.
Strong client service and interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external clients are required.
Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, clients, and leadership, are required.
Ability to protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the organization's brand is required.
