We are seeking a highly skilled Life Skills Coordinator to join our team at Urban Peak Denver shelter and/or housing programs. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision of youth, assisting them in increasing self-efficacy and reducing risky behavior, ensuring client safety, and maintaining a safe and positive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate group activities and discussions to promote social skills and life skills development.
- Provide crisis intervention and counseling services to support the emotional and psychological well-being of our clients.
- Supervise youth in accordance with facility rules and regulations, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, interventions, and environments.
- Collaborate with other staff members to provide comprehensive services and support to our clients.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years' experience working with high-risk, adolescent populations in a shelter, residential, or transitional housing environment; or an equivalent combination of higher education and some experience working with high-risk adolescent population.
- Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve is encouraged but not required.
- Ability to connect and work effectively with a diverse, resistant street youth population.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues related to homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse among high-risk young adults.
- Problem-solving skills, including multi-tasking, assessment, organization, and prioritization.
- Team-oriented and able to coordinate with various departments and staff.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and practices.
- QMAP certified or eligible for QMAP certification.
- Ability to use a second language in written and verbal communication (Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL).
- A background with CAC or IDD is encouraged.
